Correctly
fitting a blanket or sheet to your horse is helpful in ensuring
fewer rubs and excess confinement that might irritate the horse.
Correct fit also contributes to the life of the blanket or
sheet.
Using a cloth tape measure, start at
the center of the horse's chest (point A on the figure) measure
in a straight line along the length of the horse to the center
of the tail (point B on the figure). This total measurement in
inches will be the size of the blanket or sheet.
If the measurement falls between sizes:
- consider the height of your
horse - taller horses may need the next size larger
- consider if the horse is wide
or thin - wider horses may need the next size larger
- consider the style - in
general, blankets with shoulder pleats and longer sides are
roomier and often more adjustable than closer fitting style
blankets.
